Our Story
It all started in a cramped Brooklyn apartment with a single, noisy 3D printer. When a young boy named Eric got his hands on his first machine, he didn't just see a printer—he saw a personal factory that could turn his wildest ideas into reality. At first, the printer was just a fascinating gadget, humming away in the corner of his bedroom while he learned the intricacies of 3D modeling and layer adhesion.
His early prints were simple experiments. He started by making cable clips, tiny calibration cubes, and basic replacement parts just to see what the machine could do. But the real magic happened when he downloaded a file for a small, articulated flexi-dragon. Watching the printer lay down the interlocking plastic joints layer by layer completely captivated him.
When that first dragon popped off the build plate, it was a revelation. It wasn't just a rigid piece of plastic; it moved, it wiggled, and it felt incredibly satisfying to hold. Eric brought it to school the next day, and instantly, everyone wanted one. What had started as a solo hobby quickly turned into a neighborhood sensation.
Word spread fast. Classmates were requesting different colors, different animals, and entirely new fidget designs. Eric began designing his own tactile, clicky toys and complex flexi-creatures. But with demand skyrocketing, that one tiny printer running overnight simply couldn't keep up with the sheer volume of requests pouring in.
That's when the real hustle began. Every dollar he made was reinvested into the "business." One printer turned into three, and then quickly into ten. The Brooklyn apartment was filled with the constant mechanical whir of stepper motors and the faint smell of melted PLA plastic. It became a true family affair, with everyone pitching in to help remove supports, package orders, and monitor the overnight prints.
Eventually, the operation outgrew the apartment entirely. Toys & Fidgets moved into a dedicated commercial workspace to accommodate an impressive print farm of over 20 high-speed 3D printers. The new space allowed for bulk filament storage, proper packing stations, and the ability to run the machines around the clock without keeping the neighbors awake.
With the increased capacity, Eric realized he didn't have to stop at just kids' toys. The catalog naturally expanded as his family asked for practical prints. We started designing home goods for Mom's corner, rugged organizers for Dad's workshop, and highly detailed collectibles. The same engineering principles that made the fidget toys durable were applied to everyday household items.
Today, Toys & Fidgets is a testament to what happens when you combine creativity with perseverance. Every single item we sell is still designed with that same childlike curiosity and manufactured right here in-house. It proves that a small idea—born in a Brooklyn bedroom—can grow into something truly amazing.
